At Community Counsel, disability justice means more than access — it means dignity, stability, and the power to live safely in our community. We stand with people with disabilities who are pushed to the margins by unlawful housing practices, inaccessible shelters, and systems that criminalize poverty. Through advocacy, education, and impact litigation, we work to remove barriers, hold institutions accountable, and protect the civil rights of our neighbors.
We believe our community is strongest when everyone has a safe place to live and the freedom to thrive.

We fight housing discrimination against people with disabilities. Whether a landlord refuses reasonable accommodations, denies access, or creates barriers to stable housing, we step in to protect our clients’ rights and preserve their homes.

Emergency shelter should be safe and accessible to everyone. We advocate for unhoused individuals with disabilities who face exclusion, unsafe conditions, or unlawful policies in shelters, and we push systems to meet their legal and moral obligations.

For many people with disabilities, a vehicle is safety, shelter, and independence. We challenge unlawful vehicle towing practices that disproportionately harm unhoused and disabled community members and work to prevent the loss of critical personal property.
